And Find Out!

What business to start is a question that comes up often regarding a way to make extra money. You must qualify a business first before you can give it your undivided attention. Don’t give the home business industry a bad rap by not giving due diligence to your search.

When people fail they give that industry a bad name and say that “it doesn’t work.” The real problem was that they weren’t cutout for the business opportunity or they weren’t prepared, they didn’t set themselves up for success. How do I know? Because, someone else will make a go of what others failed to succeed.

The business opportunity must accomplish certain things for you! Sometimes a home based business can prove to be very tricky.

What Business to Start . . . .

It is so important that you qualify a business yourself, as one that works for you. Find something that will fit you like a glove. Only you can do this.

For example, do you know much about the network marketing industry? Do you like working with people? In network marketing there are a number of businesses you could be involved in and they all present a different product, a different business plan, a different way that you are compensated.

Thousands of people have done well in this industry, while on the other hand thousands have failed as well. So what is the moral of this story? Qualify the business!

The network marketing industry is one of the healthiest industries you will find. There isn’t another industry that stands head and shoulders above it. You will find pros and cons for that industry just as you will with any other industry.

The question comes up in conversation very often, "What business to start"? It shows that people are perplexed when it comes to choosing a method for earning income at home and they say, “I think I’ll give it a try and see what happens.” That’s a popular approach. I call it “the blanket approach.”

The blanket approach seems to cover everything without thinking too much about it. At least, it makes you think you have everything covered. It’s covered alright and you missed seeing all the reasons why it will or it won’t work for you, until you fail.

Business is about what must work for you, not just the business that looks good and which seems to be working for someone else. If you see a business that looks good, ok! If you see a business that works for someone else that’s good as well. It still doesn’t mean that you should do it, you don’t know yet! You haven’t qualified it for yourself, but you probably are wishing it to be so.

What Business to Start . . . .

See, at this point you probably have never approached business in this fashion. You probably still don’t know what kind of business you will actually have an advantage in. You want to have an advantage in whatever you choose to do, because business in general is tough, but especially because competition is tough.

If you fail to qualify the business and yourself, then you will be at a disadvantage. If you do qualify the business and yourself, and find that it fits like a glove you will have an advantage. (If others are doing what we are suggesting and they have qualified the opportunity, then your competition will be tough because they are working it with an advantage.)

Some people are turned on by a hyped-up opportunity. Around every corner there is one waiting to entice your entrepreneurial traits. You will be easily sucked in like you never expected and you won’t realize it until it’s too late.

Is it just a feeling of hope that you have in your thoughts about a business, or do you have a good grasp of the essentials associated with the opportunity?

Many aspiring business owners think that just because a particular business seems to be successfully working for someone else, they can do the same. When you don't qualify a business, you don’t even know for sure what the financial standing of the business you’re observing is and what effort was required to produce that result.

The best home business needs to be searched for, deciphered, observed and examined closely.

Instead, the on-looker often just surmises the situation. Just looking at it from afar off they start to think that they can do as well in the same business as another person who appears to be successful in it. 95% of the people choosing to work a particular business in this manner fail because they didn’t discover the actual effort required, what it takes to be successful in that business and how they match-up to it.

A lot of the encouragement also comes from the gurus who hype an opportunity and they often describe it as easy, fantastic, life changing etc. or even saying "anyone can do it".

Find out so that you at least know what has to happen in detail so that it will actually turn out to be the best home business that you envisioned it to be for you!

After you’ve begun to qualify a business and discovered the necessary details, next you need to examine yourself to see if you fit into that environment.

Can you learn new skills that the business demands, and do you have the personal characteristics to promote it? Learning a new skill is ok, but allow enough time to make it a part of you enough for you to be comfortable to turn it into the best home business for you to work in.

Really, a business does not work the same for everyone. It takes a certain type of individual to be successful in a certain type of business.

Aside from its location, its investment requirement, the type of product or service, it will not work for you if it doesn’t fit you. When you qualify a business, you can then compare the details of the business and see how you as a person match up with them.

What will it take to fit for you? After all you are an individual.

Do you know that approximately 95% of businesses fail? And it fails because something didn’t fit! When this happens, people just shrug it off and say, “it didn’t work.” But what didn’t work? A better description would probably be that, “it didn’t fit!” Yes, it doesn’t work because it doesn’t fit!

Maybe it can work for you after you have received training. But training doesn't guarantee that you fit the business or the business will fit you even though training will make you a different person. Can you evaluate the new you and see how you can perform as the new you? It still comes down to finding what fits you.

Do you know what they are before you begin so you can be prepared and have a solution in advance on how to deal with them? When you qualify a business you find out what kind of things can throw the business for a loop, stifle its output or develop a kink unexpectedly.

Every business has it's pitfalls, even the best home businesses you come across. Even the best laid plans can be disrupted. If you are prepared for them sufficiently you can overcome them when they arise, then you can prevail because you're prepared. You have a slim chance of succeeding otherwise.

A pitfall often is something that you weren’t quite sure of. This is why you must find out as much as possible about a business operating requirements and its environment.

Read about "7 qualifiers" that should aid you in your due diligence to help you answer the question "what business to start?" These are suggested ways to qualify a business.

When the business works because all the details are gathered, understood and applied successfully, you shouldn’t hear yourself saying things like:

• “I did what they told me, why isn’t it working?”

• “I’m not sure what to do next!”

• “I don’t know what to do!”

• “It’s not working and I’m running out of money!”

• “What am I going to do I’m running out of time!”

• “It’s got to work soon I’m getting tired of this!”

• “I spent all that time and money to learn about this but it’s not working like they promised! And now they’re telling me I need more training.”

• “This is not what I had in mind. They said it was easy and anyone can do it!”

• “They told me all I had to do was tell the story and they will follow.”

• “My sponsor/contact doesn’t seem to be doing much better either. They don’t seem interested in helping me. They don’t seem to know either.”

• “They want to sell me another package of tools. They say it’s going to help.”

• “They told me to contact my friends and family and it’s not helping either.”

• “They are saying I need more passion and to be positive.”

• “They now say I need to invest more money to make money.”

• “They said that I need to be decisive because the window of opportunity may close at any time.”

Reduce the odds of this happening. Qualify a business! And keep asking yourself the question "What Business to Start" until you find one that qualifies under your scrutiny.
